VARIOUS ROADS TO KNOWLEDGE

I was to learn, however, that there is much more to profound/deep thinking than the ability to write the kind of scripts which modern civilisation, dominated by Europe and its descendants, prizes so high. Yes. The work of Faux and Gates, among others, showed me that there are more ways to deep thinking, to critical exploration. I learnt that images may also serve very effectively to guide the mind to cogitate about the world in its farthest ranges.

I was also jolted into asking myself “What exactly is a script?” “What is a text?”Is it true that the Dark Continent had no writing? No scripts? How do we describe the methods of recording of the Ethiopians? How are these related to the artistic designs of people like the Akan with Adinkra? What is the relative effectiveness of various forms of recording and exploring information and ideas-orality, representational and non-representational artistic designs, colour patterns, writing, electronic forms, still and moving images, sound, the body ?
